CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (July 27, 2010) -- Jill George, racing out of Cedar Falls, Iowa, has been invited by Roush-Fenway Racing to test a Nationwide car at Rockingham on July 27 and 28. This test and tryout was by invitation only and Jill is one of seven drivers invited to this event. George, primarily a dirt late model racer, currently stands 14th in points in the World of Outlaws Dirt Late Model series points standings. She will go from Rockingham directly to Sharon, PA, to pick up the WoO tour that runs in Ohio and Pennsylvania the remainder of the week.
βI am honored to be invited to this event by the Roush-Fenway staff. It is my hope that I can go to Rockingham and show them something that they like in terms of my driving ability and my personality and potential. Regardless of what comes of this I am thankful for the opportunity and for all the people who have worked so hard to help get me to this place in my racing career.β George drove the James Hylton owned #48 at the ARCA event in Daytona in February and has other ASA related asphalt experience as well as experience with Andy Hillenburg and Rockingham. βIt is my understanding that the Roush-Fenway people have been following my dirt experience and that they are looking for developmental drivers with some dirt racing experience. I have a long way to go in my racing career and I am working as hard as I can to improve my skills and experience level every time I race.β
