SPECIAL AUTOGRAPHED RACING HELMET UP FOR AUCTION
TO BENEFIT CYSTIC FIBROSIS - DALE EARNHARDT JR. AMONG THE STAR'S
WHO SIGNED THE SPECIAL FUND RAISING ITEM
Deep South Speedway is continuing efforts to
raise awareness and funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of
Alabama through the offering of a special bid opportunity. One
hundred percent of the proceeds from the special helmet will be
given to the CF Foundation.
The idea came from Stacy Tatum, general manager
for Camping World’s Robertsdale store, who was getting ready
to take her first trip to Talladega for the race. She wanted to
do something from the local Camping World location so she suggested
taking a helmet and get as many NASAR drivers to sign it as possible,
and then let people bid on it. Morris Bye, owner of Hi-Rev Speed
Equipment in Theodore, was first to lend assistance by donating
a new helmet and tote bag for the effort.
“I think it is a great thing to use this
sport we are in to help raise awareness and money for the CF folks…I
know they really appreciate it,” Bye said as he delivered
the helmet. Stacy was excited to be able to contribute her time
to the cause as well, adding “I just thought that since
I was going to be around a lot of NASCAR drivers like Kevin Harvick
and Cale Gale, that it would be a good thing for us to do from
Camping World, but also a good thing for the drivers to do as
well.”
